When I was ask to make this little plaque for a christmas gift I was like...huh?

Then my cute girl explained to me that is was a quote from the movie The Help. Still a bit confused, I headed out to my local Red Box and rented the movie.

Loved it! If you haven't seen it or read the book I highly recommend it. It's hard to believe that people really lived like that not that long ago.

So I just gotta say it... I'm having a hard time getting into the Christmas mood this year.

I know, sad.

The tree is up, the lights are on but the lack of ornaments on the tree is a bit obvious. Things are a little different around our house this year. Our baby girl has moved away and has her very own tree. The hubby and son are busy with work & college. With everyone constantly going 20 different directions it just hasn't happened. Now that Christmas is 10 days away I'm thinking, do I really want to put it all up just to turn around and take it down again??

I'm not a total Grinch. I've decorated my holiday bench, does that count??

My cute girl did set up my very favorite decoration of all, my nativity. And, isn't that what the season is all about anyway?

Each leaf has a family members name on it. There are a bunch of blank leaves so as more grandkids come along we can add their names.

The twins loved showing off the leaves with their names!

I'm hoping someday to have a huge family tree of my own!

Family Photo Wall

We have been in our home for 7 years now (a record for us!) and I have one wall that I've never decorated. I just couldn't commit to anything so I hung a mirror up and have hated it ever since!

I've had a idea in my head for awhile now and finally got it finished.

I love to use cabinet doors to frame things. After sanding them down for what seemed like forever I spray painted them off white and did a bit of distressing.

Next, I designed my graphics and printed them on burlap. To do that I needed some burlap, freezer paper and a ton of patience! The burlap kept getting jammed in my printer, then I ran out of ink!

I love the way they came out! Definitely worth the time it took to put them together. I used some craft glue and brads to attach them to the cabinets.

I'm in LOVE with the finished product!

Well, it's not exactly finished... I have an idea for adding a shelf under the center frame. I hope that doesn't take me another 7 years to finish!

When my 17 year old baby girl moved out to go to college I was sad. The only way I could think to sooth my sadness was to redo her room the day after she moved! OK, maybe the day after she moved was a bit to soon (for her, not me)! I had to explain to her that I am making her a beautiful Guest Room for when she comes to visit.

I'm in love with the quatrefoil pattern! I decided to spice it up a bit by using vinyl instead of paint. It sounded like a good idea... until I realized just how much vinyl this project is going to take. This picture is how far I got before I ran out. Now the project is on hold while I wait for my vinyl order to come.

Once the vinyl is complete I'll start on the curtains and pillows. Did I mention I don't sew?

I just got back from Girls Camp and it was amazing! My hubby and I went up for the day so I could teach the girls how to make the survival bracelets. The girls were so creative mixing the different colors together. Super cute!

On a sad note, one of the sweet beehives in our ward passed away the week before camp. As a tribute to Whitney Smith I added a heart with a W charm. The YW leaders added the W.S. to the sleeve of the shirts. We will always remember Whitney for her testimony and fun personality.

I'm super excited to be helping out with Girls Camp again this year! The theme is BOOT Camp. Check out the awesome logo thanks to Halfdime (AKA Nik Crawford). I can't wait to see how it looks on a tee shirt.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about what kind of craft could fit the military theme and teach a spiritual lesson. Having been a Army wife for 13 years it was hard to see how these two things meshed.

My favorite part just might be the combat boot charm!

My goal is to teach the girls the correlation between a cute bracelet and their testimonies. Wish me luck!

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from my girlfriends' daughters' wedding so here they are. This had to of been one of the most beautiful receptions I've been to and I'm not just saying that because I helped with the decorations!

These screens are amazing! Is was a little difficult to get good pics because of the back lighting but believe me, FABULOUS!

I've never seen so much pink! It fit the gorgeous bride perfectly.

I love finding new ways to use vinyl!

My girlfriend had every detail planned out, right down to the sparkly diamonds on the tables!

I never got a chance to get a picture of the runner before the beautiful bride came in so it's a good thing I have a shot of it laying on my kitchen table!

London's Run

London's Run is a charity even that began in 2006 when London Solomon was diagnosed with leukemia. Although she lost her battle with cancer, her family has continued to help others with life threatening illnesses.

This year I was able to be a vendor at the run. It was great to talk to so many people with a passion for running. Here are a couple of pictures from the day.

Oh, and did I mention the best part? My cute girl came in 3rd in the 10K with a time of 49:36!

She is AMAZING!

The best way to start off the new year is with a super cute new calendar!

Craft Night is starting back up again!

January 11th at 6:30

These metal calendars can be used with a dry erase marker and have interchangeable monthly designs.

The craft comes with a wooden board, sheet metal and vinyl outline for the calendar, plus the first 2 months for $30. The additional months can be purchased that night or through out the year. The months are front/back, so January is on front, flip it over and February is on back. The additional months are $6 for the set of 3 (but that includes 2 months.... confusing? sorry!)

So... from the replies I've been getting I'm pretty sure I've totally confused everyone on the price of this fabulous calendar!
Here's the break down:
$30 covers the blank calendar outline, sheet metal, wood to mount it on and the first 2 months (January with February on back). The other months will be $6 for a set of 2 months. So that means March & April will be $6, June & July will be $6 more and so on. You can get all the months that night for an additional $30 or break it up and do 2 months at a time for $6 each. In the end the whole thing would cost $60.

Decorative Candle Sticks ~ July Craft Night

Checking out other craft blogs is kinda a hobby of mine. (some say stalking, I say hobby) So, when I came across some decorative candle sticks on one of my favorite blogs I knew I wanted to make some. I did a little tweaking and this is what I came up with.

Each candle stick will be $10 each. So, if you want to do 2 it will be $20, if you want to do 4 = $40 and so on. I will need to know by July 17 how many each person will be ordering so I can have all the supplies ready.

I LOVE these Modern Tree Designs! These pictures are from my front room. I added the scripture in Proverbs 22:6 and just love it. Trees and birds have always reminded me of family.
